The number of Boats increased to about ten during the 1960's and in the December 1970 the boat owners, led by Mr T Mandry and Mr John Philips called a meeting in Rushall Community Centre on December 11th, 1970, hence LONGWOOD BOAT CLUB was founded,

The aim of the club

To promote interest among Boat owners. To encourage mutual self-aid to foster friendship between all other canal users, i.e. Fishermen, Walkers, Photographers, etc, and to promote the lawful and considerate usage of all Inland Waterways and adjoining properties.
